Good Food

VictoryGrower supports the notion that gardening is an excellent way to increase food security (the amount and quality of food) in America. Gardening enables youth, families and entire communities to improve their access to Good FoodGood Food is:

  • Healthy - because it's fresh and minimally processed.

  • Green - because it's produced and distributed in a way that supports a healthy and sustainable environment.  Think "local" here.

  • Fair - because it generates an equitable wage for those producing and selling it.

  • Affordable - for Everyone. Access to Good Food should be a right, not a privilege.

Do your bit to demonstrate your commitment to Good Food by becoming a VictoryGrower in 2008.  This is a great time of year to open a gardening catalog or visit a local nursery for inspiration.  Pick up a hoe and GO!

Food for Thought: "If every U.S. citizen ate just one meal a week (any meal) composed of locally and organically raised meats and produce, we would reduce our country’s oil consumption by over 1.1 million barrels of oil every week. That’s not gallons, but barrels."*

A garden can help you accomplish this...and so much more!
