The University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) in consultation and cooperation with the American Vineyard Foundation established the California Competitive Grant Program for Research in Viticulture and Enology (CCGPVE) in 1997. This program is possible due to a special allocation from the California Legislature, and is contingent upon matching funding from the California viticulture and enology Industry. This grant program is open to all California public institutions with research capabilities to address the needs of the California viticulture and enology industry.
A guiding committee composed of representatives from the University of California, California State University, and the California viticulture and enology industry has established the priority areas for research funding. These priority areas are outlined in the Request for Proposals (RFP) below.
