- Find a local 4-H Club. Click Nevada County Clubs and locate a 4-H club in your area. Here you can find out what projects that club offers and when their meetings are schedule.
- Contact the Community Club Leader and verify location, date and time of their next meeting. Let them know you would like to attend one of their meetings to find out more about the program and to enroll.
- Attend a Community Club Meeting. The meetings are held once a month. While the meeting may seem overwhelming, remeber you will not necessarily participate in every project, fundraiser, or event mentioned. Pay attention to what interest you and your child. Ask for a copy of their Constitution and Bylaws, and any project rules they may have. This will inform you of any specials provisions- attendance, community pride/citizenship participation requirements, fundraisers, etc. Once you find a club that best suits your family...
- It's time to enroll! Most clubs will have enrollment forms available at the meetings. Give completed forms and enrollment fees to the Club Leader. As a member, you will select the project(s) you wish to participate in. Find out who is the leading the project and when they meet. Your Project Leader will guide you through your learning experience.
How do I become an adult volunteer?
This is an application process. You will need to complete the Volunteer Application Packet, receive fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and view a Volunteer Certification DVD. Upon completion of this and the approval of the County Director, you will receive notification of becoming a certified 4-H Volunteer.
