Chemicals involved in rest breaking inducement were evaluated, including the agents Dormex and CAN17, the growth regulator CPPU, and various penetrators, activators and adjuvants. Discussion includes use of the Dynamic Model (Fishman 1987) with Chill Portions to calculate chill accumulation in California, and timed dormant treatments. Chilling accumulation, critical in  timing the application of rest-breaking agents, was calculated using several models.

Issues addressed included rain-induced cracking, stem retention, fruit set and post harvest storage. Fruit quality was assessed after timed treatments with plant growth regulators, including CPPU and MaxCelJ. The impact of fall defoliants on spring buds and fruit set was assessed.

Rootstocks planted at Wolfskill Experimental Orchard were evaluated. In separate trials to Phytopthora resistance in several Mahaleb stock clones were examined.
