Master Gardener Projects

Composting
At composting workshops throughout the county, Master Gardeners show gardeners how to compost and then use the resulting material in their gardens. Master Gardeners also give presentations in local schools to teach children about worm composting.

Jail Industries Demonstration Garden
The Jail Industries Demonstration Garden is a joint project of the Sonoma County Master Gardeners and Jail Industries of Sonoma County. Its purpose is as a teaching tool for JI program participants, as well as a showcase for JI's training and plant-growing program.

County Fair Garden
Every year at the Sonoma County Fair the Master Gardeners plant a garden demonstrating sustainable, water-wise gardening, natural pest control techniques, and supporting the environment. In part, the garden demonstrates non-toxic options for reducing reliance on conventional pesticides by providing practical solutions to pest management.

Sonoma Garden Park
Sonoma County Master Gardeners are participating with Sonoma Ecology Center staff to teach gardening to children at Sonoma Garden Park. The Sonoma Garden Park is an educational campus bun by the Sonoma Ecology Center in a 6.1 acre garden donated to the City of Sonoma by Pauline Bond.

Farmers' Markets
the Master Gardeners staff information desks at farmers' markets throughout the county, and provide the same type of hands-on help and answers that are available at the main help desks.

Library Series
The Master Gardeners Library Series is a program of one to two hour workshops put on at Sonoma County Regional Library Branch locations. Our goal is to provide quality scientific gardening information to the general public in an understandable and enjoyable way.

County and Harvest Fairs
Master Gardeners maintain information tables a the Sonoma County Fair and other selected fairs throughout the county.

Bloomin' Backyards 2010
Sonoma County Master Gardeners' Biennial Garden Tour Bloomin' Backyards will take place took place June 7, 2010, featuring several delightful gardens of Master Gardens in the south Sonoma County region.

Harvest for the Hungry
Harvest for the Hungry is a volunteer-staffed community garden that donates produce grown to local service agencies.
