
Harvest for the Hungry - Yulupa Gardens
An all volunteer community garden, supported in part by Sonoma County Master Gardeners, that donates produce to local service agencies. HFH promotes ecological gardening practices and backyard habitat plantings. Workshops for the public are held here throughout the warmer months, featuring workshops for parents and children.

Now is the time for conserving our most precious resource - water. Join habitat gardener Hillary Smith as she details a step-by-step process for turning your front yard into a native, drought-tolerant landscape. Topics addressed will include sustainability, sheet mulching, plant selection, and drip irrigation.
July 18 Care of the Home Orchard
Learn how to care for your home fruit and nut trees. You will learn the growth cycle of deciduous trees, irrigation, fertilization, training, summer pruning, fruit thinning, and pest management from Master Gardener Al Derrick.
August 29 Healing Gardens and Horticultural Therapy
Can gardens heal us? If so – how does it work, who can be healed, and what ailments can be addressed? Join us for this introduction to the fundamentals of Horticultural Therapy and Healing Garden design! Together with Johan Niklasson of Landscapes For a Future we will explore the deep and transformative work that is happening within us as we work and play in green environments.
Sept. 26 Great Herbs to Grow for Fall and Winter Gardens
Learn about wonderful herbs that can be grown and harvested during the cooler seasons from herbalist, Rosemary Loveall. Whether you have a large garden or only a single container, there are delicious herbs that can spice up the winter doldrums in the kitchen. Other topics: which herbs should be harvested in the fall, methods to preserve best flavor, and herbs to grow indoors this winter. Lots of recipes and ideas for what to do with all of your abundantly growing herbs will be available.
October 10 More Bees – More Food!
April Lance, a veteran beekeeper and master gardener, will discuss what plants you can grow to help and encourage our honeybees, review the latest findings regarding colony collapse disorder (CCD), talk about how bees help increase your crop, and show, hands-on, how you can simply set up beehives in your own backyard

Pruning demonstration in the Harvest for the Hungry Garden will highlight dormant pruning techniques for peaches, apples, plums and more. Don Hourigan, our tree specialist answers your pruning questions.
