Master Gardeners are volunteers trained by the UC Davis Cooperative Extension. They provide gardening help and information for Sonoma County home gardeners, and give classes, seminars and workshops throughout the county.

Master Gardener-staffed Help Desks are located
at Sonoma County Farmers' Markets and Fairs
Help Desk
Volunteer Master Gardeners staffing the help desks in both Santa Rosa and Sonoma provide home gardening information to county residents who call, come in, or email questions to the Master Gardeners. Information, answers and solutions come from a variety of sources, including UC materials, Master Gardener handouts, reference library materials, online sites and the Master Gardeners’ personal experience.
Farmers' Markets
the Master Gardeners staff information desks at farmers' markets throughout the county, and provide the same type of hands-on help and answers that are available at the main help desks.
Library Series
The Master Gardeners Library Series is a program of one to two hour workshops put on at Sonoma County Regional Library Branch locations. Our goal is to provide quality scientific gardening information to the general public in an understandable and enjoyable way.
County and Harvest Fairs
Master Gardeners maintain information tables a the Sonoma County Fair and other selected fairs throughout the county.
Master Gardener Demonstration Garden
P.U.R.E. Pesticide Use Reduction Education has as its mission to protect the water quality and environment in Sonoma County by reducing the use of pesticides. We offer county residents non-toxic options for reducing reliance on conventional pesticides by providing practical solutions to pest management.
Sonoma Garden Park
Sonoma County Master Gardeners are participating with Sonoma Ecology Center staff to teach gardening to children at Sonoma Garden Park. The Sonoma Garden Park is an educational campus bun by the Sonoma Ecology Center in a 6.1 acre garden donated to the City of Sonoma by Pauline Bond.
Jail Industries Demonstration Garden
The Jail Industries Demonstration Garden is a joint project of the Sonoma County Master Gardeners and Jail Industries of Sonoma County. Its purpose is as a teaching tool for JI program participants, as well as a showcase for JI's training and plant-growing program.
Bloomin' Backyards 2008
Sonoma County Master Gardeners' Biennial Garden Tour Bloomin' Backyards will take place June 22, 2008, featuring several delightful gardens of Master Gardens in the central Sonoma County region.
Harvest for the Hungry
Harvest for the Hungry is a volunteer-staffed community garden that donates produce grown to local service agencies.
Composting
At composting workshops throughout the county, Master Gardeners show gardeners how to compost and then use the resulting material in their gardens. Master Gardeners also give presentations in local schools to teach children about worm composting.
