Internship Opportunities
intern
INTERNSHIPS at SFREC are available to college students who want practical experience before proceeding with their undergraduate or graduate education. An internship can last a quarter or a semester, depending on the student's campus schedule or the scope of the project. Housing is provided at the Center and stipends are available for qualified students. Interns work with senior researchers, assist with management tasks, and learn independent data collection and analysis.

Emphasis of the internship will vary with time of year that the student is present at the Center, i.e., the fall quarter will focus on calving assistance and feeding and management of cows calving on rangeland pastures. Winter quarter could involve cattle breeding, including artificial insemination and nutritional management on rangeland. During spring, students could work with pasture rotation and cattle health. Summer quarter emphasizes management of irrigated pastures and the cattle that are grazing them. Interns may focus on specific research projects involving a subject area such as watershed management, range forage utilization, pasture management, weed management or oak regeneration.

Qualifications: College-level student, preferably upper division, with interest in animal, range or plant science. Transcript notation or credit is available to UC students. Student may be enrolled in a college outside the University of California system. For more information, contact:
