Climate

At 35° 31';N latitude and 119° 16';W longitude, SREC has a total area of 120 acres at 400 feet elevation. The climate is Mediterranean with hot, dry summers (June through September) and mild, rainy winters. Rainfall normally occurs between October and May, with 78% of the precipitation received from November through March. Annual precipitation averages 6.4 inches.

Mean average temperature in June through September is 76°F, and the mean maximum is 92°F. July is generally the hottest month, with daily maximums frequently exceeding 100°F. Mean minimum is 37°F for December through February.

The weather station is operated by USDA and is part of the California Irrigation Management Information System (CIMIS).
