Cotton Gins
Two specialized gins, a saw gin for upland and a roller gin for pima cotton, process research seed cotton samples for further analysis. The gins are versions of commerical units that have been modified to process small samples. Small portable gins (2 saw, 2 roller) are also available to process a few very small samples. All university cotton research samples are processed at Shafter. Samples from other sources can be processed for a small fee.
