Getting Started: The Basics  Instant Tips

- Copying information from Word or Excel into Powerpoint: Copy from Word, then Paste Special in Powerpoint. The option may be hidden in the extended dropdown Edit menu at the top. It will paste it in as a metafile and you can adjust. DON'T double-click on the object, it will throw it all the fonts out of whack. Go back to the original source to edit and re-paste.

- Compatibility between Office 97, 2000 and 2002: 97 and 2000 have a view for 2002, but none of the new tools will be viewable. One '02 option is Password Protection. If that is on, 97 and 2000 won't open the file, and it says the file is locked.

- Always zoom in to 100% on your graphics. If they are fuzzy, that's what they'll look like on your poster! Use high-quality images to insert into your posters.
