Finca La Bella is located in Catamarca Province in NW Argentina, about 800 miles from Buenos Aires. It is situated at the foot of the Ambato-Manchado mountains, at 3000 ft above sea level. 

Maria Carolina and Nicolas Schwanek established the farm in 1996.  We are grateful to the Schwaneks for allowing us to observe their operation and conduct our research on their ranch.

 

About one quarter of their 4000 acres in olive production, and processes on-site for both table olives and olive oil. The olive harvest utilizes both traditional and mechanical methods. The Collossus, the harvester developed at Maqtec, is in use on the ranch.
