UC Master Gardeners are adult volunteers trained through the University of California Cooperative Extension. Master Gardeners provide home gardening information, conduct classes and other horticultural events and programs.

As a part of Fresno County programs outreach, Master Gardeners have developed a home gardening guide, which can be used as a monthly journal. The Gardener's Companion for the San Joaquin Valley is a beautiful and useful book that will grow more valuable to you as you enter notes about your own garden.

Want to know more about gardening in the Central Valley?  Our Master Gardeners will be blogging during the summer of 2009 about their gardens.  Visit our blogs below.

Environmental Horticulture Advisor, Amanda Crump - Amanda is our advisor.  She helps nurseries and landscapers with their plant problems.  Her garden is in Reedley and is evolving.  It began as a hybrid bermuda lawn and now has beds and flowers and trees.  She will post information about her garden and tips for gardening in the Central Valley.

Fresno Master Gardeners, Dawn Truelsen and Janet Cangemi - Dawn and Janet are our first bloggers.  They will be writing about their gardens and showcasing happenings at the Garden of the Sun, our 1-acre demonstration garden.
