Grapes and Berries

Grapes 1
The grape demonstration area displays the "state of the art" trellising techniques which are easly adapted to the home garden or orchard. The trellis system employs wide angled cross bars that spread the vines out more, leading to more crop, less disease and great ease of pruning and harvesting. The varieties of grapes on the Garden grounds are: Fancy, Crimson, Thompson seedless, Red Flame seedless, Riber, Prealet. The arbors in the garden near the lawn area have grapes varieties such as Concord Niagra, Red Flame and Thompson Seedless. The berries, including many thornless varieties, also show the importance of trellising and training. Varieties of berries include Oloy and Black Satin. The Rasberries are variety Baba. The garden also has thornless boysenberries.
