As the Berberis prepares to drop its leaves the normally red foliage blends into gold. This has been a good plant for us for about 10 years. Each year while dormant I remove the largest of the growths down to the ground. Very carefully as the thorns are long and sharp. In the spring the new growth is covered with tiny red flowers and fresh new foliage.
