Bottlebrush
Callistemon I have grown other places never had the room to grow in all directions and become a nicely rounded tree. This tree grown in the Algerian Ivy is 40 years old and has not received any summer water since it was established. It looked just like this in 1990 when 4 days of 12 degree temperatures killed everything above the ground. The dead tree was broken off at ground level and removed. A year later I noticed a shoot coming up out of the Ivy, (which by the way survived the freeze). It has not been watered, pruned or shaped in any way. Callistemon deserves to be called CAREFREE.
