Resources of the Hopland Research and Extension Center are available to University of California academics who hold appointments in the Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) or in Cooperative Extension (CE). US Department of Agriculture research personnel also have open access to Center resources. These resources include use of assigned land, facilities, Center labor, and technical support.

UC academics not holding appointments in AES or CE, as well as academics from other college campuses, from federal or state agencies, or from private industry may apply to use the Center's facilities, with some restrictions.

New Research Proposals

Persons wishing to initiate new research projects at HREC should review the information in the section Research: Grants & New Projects. We also recommend that early in the development of a project proposal, the investigator consult with the Center Director in regard to the proposed project.

Research Advisory Committee

Each Center has a Research Advisory Committee (RAC) that is charged with reviewing research proposals submitted for consideration. The RAC evaluates proposals in terms of their scientific merit, design, and suitability for being conducted at the Center. The RAC reviews the progress of ongoing projects at three-year intervals or more frequently if needed. The RAC also considers requests for Center labor support and annually recommends labor awards to new or ongoing projects.
