Guidelines on using Site Builder

Site Builder Guidelines

Purpose of the Site Builder system

  • Support the use of internet resources across ANR.
  • Provide consistent and professional visual look and interface.
  • Expand public access to ANR's information resources, programs, and people.
  • Expand internal collaboration and communication, improve productivity, support the ANR mission.
  • Encourage and support use, develop user friendly tools, and provide cost effective website hosting infrastructure.
  • Create a consistent identity for the University of California ANR web presence.

Criteria for Site Builder access and hosting

  • Websites should be under the direct control of and authorized by ANR program areas, units, recognized workgroups, special projects, or administration.
  • Site coordinators should be ANR employees or under the direct supervision of an ANR employee and be specifically authorized to manage a Site Builder site.
  • Content posted to Site Builder sites is the responsibility of the site coordinator and of the controlling ANR program area, unit, workgroup, special project, or administrative unit.
  • We recommend and encourage review and consideration of web content guidelines and peer review as described in Peer-review guidelines for ANR websites.
  • Questions of appropriateness or responsibility will be clarified with the appropriate ANR administrator if necessary.
  • ANR Communication Services may limit access to Site Builder resources and to hosted sites to resolve questions of appropriateness or content, to implement university or ANR policy, or to comply with state or federal regulation and laws.
  • Website headers will contain University of California identification, and preferably ANR identification.

Questions or comments about these guidelines should be directed to Claudia Myers and Robert Sams.
