Site Builder Instructions

Using Groups

The File Library allows you to upload any type of file onto the server and use those files on your web pages. The built-in File Library will automatically group your files by the program or page on which you are working. However, the built-in File Library cannot be used to take advantage of Site Builder's Grouping features.

If you have different files that you want to group together, Site Builder makes it quick and easy to get these files organized and on your site.

You can deploy grouped files on your site in three steps:

  • Create a group
  • Add files to the group
  • Place the group in your page

Step One: Create a Group

Open up your File Library from the button on the top right of Site Builder.  Below is a shot of the Group creation screen. Once the File Library opens, click "Add a Group" to get to this point.

At this point, just type the name of your group into the box, and click "Add Group."  This name will be used as a group header when a group is included in one of your pages!

Step Two: Add Files to the Group

Once you've created your group, click on "Add Another File to the List" to add a file to the group. The following form will appear.

addfile

Name/Caption for file: Enter the Name of your File. This is the name that will be shown as the link on your page, or as a caption for your picture.

Remove Caption:  Check this box to remove the caption from your picture when it is displayed.

File to Upload:  Click the button to find the file on your computer.

Link to:  If you are uploading a photo, and you want it to link to another location, enter that URL here. You can also use the file code system for the link.

Group for File: Select the group in which you want the file. For this example, you would select the group you just created.

File Sort Order in Group:  Determines file order in group listing (lowest number first).

Click "Save Information" to upload the file into the File Library. When the information is saved, the file will now be part of that group.

Step Three: Place the Group in Your Page

If the only reason you wanted to use the group feature was to organize your files, you are all done!  But, if you want to use that group in your Web site there is one more step to take.

The group is used on a page by using a *group1234* code. See the example below with the group number highlighted.

Enter this into the code into the Text Editor of your page, and the entire group will be added to your webpage in the form of a bulleted list.  Each file in the group will be listed and linked to the file.  Both data and graphic files will show up in the liste if they are in the group.
