Everwhere we turn, we hear more about how to live in a greener way. The entertainment and event industry is about the four largest "carbon monster" around according to some recent information.  CEVS sponsored a Plan Green one day conference on Feburary 18, 2009 which was packed with industry speakers all sharing ways in which their planning and questions support saving the tonnage that goes into our land. The Whole Earth Festival which started here at UC Davis in 1972 is a national model because it is 98% green. Although it is quite a science of reporting and measuring carbon footprints from events, there are simple things we can all do in our events to divert thousands of tons, and actually generate money in the process.
