Event Planners Exchange Update

 Sodexho gets a cut of your catering dollars at three locations

 
  • For all events booked after Jul 1 which are held at the ARC, Pavilion or Freeborn, catering must be coordinated/billed through Sodexho. Even if you prefer an off-campus approved caterer, Sodexho is still involved and this means about a 10% surcharge.Stephanie Eich discussed the reasoning behind this policy change and noted that it is still a work in progress and that events would also be reviewed on an individual basis as some exceptions may be granted for reoccurring annual events.  
  • Some of the reasons they instituted this policy is that it puts money back into facilities and student services. Eich noted that they are still working on liability and risk management issues. Sodexho carries more insurance than off site caterers so they claim they are trying to keep everyone on an even playing field.   • The Coffeehouse may still be used at the ARC, Pavilion or Freeborn without the fee. 
  • Sodexho can help off site caterers meet the zero waste requirements, but there was no mention if there is an additional fee for this service.

Dave Roberts has consolidated the Davis Creamery with The Cookie Connection (Woodland Cookie Co with Cupcake Craving (Sacramento) to open under one roof in south Davis. Daily delivery is assured except on Sunday. Custom ice cream made just for your event (with a little notice) Cupcakes are available in mini sizes too. Ice cream socials at their place or yours. Now located across from Dos Coyotes on Cowell Blvd.

Buildings and Grounds update by Sal Genito
 
  • New cleaning schedules-less frequent. 
  • Complaints about food left in buildings mostly after interdepartmental events. This can add extra cleaning fees.
