Eudora Users May Need to Upgrade
|
The UC Davis campus will be upgrading its e-mail servers during winter break (12/24/03–1/2/04). After this upgrade Eudora users will need version 5.2.1 or later to access their e-mail. Outlook and Outlook Express users should be fine. Geckomail also is not affected. You can find out what version of Eudora you have by going to the help menu (in Windows) or the Eudora menu, and selecting “About Eudora.” If you find that you have an earlier version than 5.2.1, go to the Communication Services web site at http://anrcs.ucdavis.edu/software/ to download either the newer PC or Mac versions of Eudora. Follow the directions on the web site. You can also download these versions from the campus software download site in MyUCDavis. You’ll need your Kerberos password to log in there as well as the MyUCDavis service ID for your account. The same version of Eudora is found at both locations. The UCD campus is upgrading its e-mail servers in preparation for establishing secure password authentication on these servers and to improve overall server performance. In addition, users who use multiple mail clients may notice an improved ability to move among those clients. If you have any questions about this upgrade, please contact Communication Services’ information technology staff members Damon DiPietro (dadipietro@ucdavis.edu), Claudia Myers (camyers@ucdavis.edu), or Blaine Sullivan (basullivan@ucdavis.edu).
