In January, Communication Services’s Digital Media Library reached 5,000 catalogued assets. An “asset” is a photograph, illustration, or other media file available online to ANR faculty and staff. These files are free to download for use in talks, presentations, and web sites that carry out the work of the UC Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources. In the past two years, there have been over 3,000 downloads of these assets by ANR staff and faculty.
Most of the library consists of photos by CS staff photographers. The photographs’ quality is set for computer screen resolution for use with PowerPoint or web sites. The resolution quality is not sufficient for print publications, but in many cases higher-resolution images can be made available. Contact Media Librarian Evett Kilmartin at emkilmartin@ucdavis.edu or (530) 754-7304 for print-resolution versions.
The collection also includes a couple of dozen ANR-specific PowerPoint templates that users can tailor for individual programs or counties in a variety of color schemes. It is also a handy place to find ANR and UCCE logos along with state and regional maps that can be re-colored and re-sized.
