Files Area
|
Files can be uploaded into and downloaded from your groups area at any time. The files system is set up to house multiple versions of the same file, and organize them chronologically. To upload a brand new file (version 1) click on 'upload a new file' from the yellow menu bar. This will bring up a page with a simple form. In this form you need to enter the name you would like the file to be known as on the system (not necessarily the name of the file on your computer, this should be descriptive for all users) and any notes you have for this file. Notes can be anything you would like. Next you need to 'browse' your computer for the file. This is very similar to including a file in an e-mail. When you hit the browse button, you will be looking at the files on your computer. Netscape users- please note that the 'files of type' dropdown list should be set to 'all files'. Once the new file is uploaded and in the system, anyone with access to your group can download the file. They can also add version 2. Even when version 2 is added, version 1 is still intact, and available. You can have as many versions of each file as you would like. There is no limit the the amount of space your group can use the file system. To add a second (or third, or fourth...) version of the same file, you need to click on the file name, and a page with an upload form will appear on your screen. To download any version of a file, click on the version number, and the file will be sent to your computer.
