Monday, July 20th to Saturday, July 25th, 2009

Registration Deadline:  June 26, 2009, your completed paperwork & fees must be hand delivered or mailed with a postmark on or before that date. Camp registration will be taken on a first come first served basis, a waiting list will be established after capacity is reached.

Camp fees
$80.00 for 4-H Enrolled Camper
$100.00 for New 4-H’ers this includes $80 camp fee + $20 4-H enrollment fee.
    If you are NOT enrolled with a Placer County 4-H CLUB  this enrollment year of 2008-2009 you must complete the 4-H Enrollment Forms in addition to the Camp Application.

Printed forms are available at the 4-H office or from your 4-H Club Leader.
 
Eligibility Requirements:
4-H members aged 9 years old (by December 31, 2008) to 19 years old are eligible to attend camp. There are no other requirements other than being a 4-H member.  Record books are not a requirement and Community Clubs may not place any restrictions on their members attending camp.  

How is Camp Organized:
Camp is supervised by adults, one adult to each ten campers.  Lead by one or  two adult Camp Directors, one Junior Camp Director and a Junior Camp Staff of twelve Tribe Leaders.  Tribe Leaders are older 4-H members that have been to camp before and are experienced leaders.  Campers will be divided into six tribes, of all ages.  Tribe leaders will be sleeping in each tent.  Our entire staff is volunteer and we look forward to providing a productive and rewarding camp experience for your children.

2009 Camp Adventures:

  • Each camper will receive a  t-shirt and group camp picture. 
  • On Monday, campers will be arriving before lunch, have a special program in the afternoon, take a group picture, hand-crank ice cream for dinner, get acquainted and craft time with a camp fire after dinner. 
  • Tuesday through Friday, will be filled with camping adventures including, hiking, swimming at Sterling Lake, kayaking, canoeing, sports, crafts, a ropes course, archery, hands-on learning sessions with water-bottle rockets, compassing and more. Evenings will feature Astronomy, campfires, a talent show  and a dance on Friday night.
  • Saturday: Campers and Staff prepare to return home, friendship circle and write in each others camp books and have brunch.

Meals and Snacks Provided:
The first meal is lunch on the first day. Each day thereafter includes three good home cooked meals plus healthy snacks available at all times. Please let us know of any special dietary needs. Also, leave snacks and candy home as they are an attraction for the local varmints. The last meal is brunch on the last day.  Parents and family members are invited for last day brunch but must pre-register and pay $5.00 when enrolling children for camp (see the enrollment form).
  
Transportation To Camp: 
Arrangements have been made to transport campers and staff to and from camp from a location in Auburn, CA . Details will be included in your confirmation letter.

Camp Facilities:

Campers will sleep in tents with plywood floors.  Girls on one side of camp, boys at the other end. Each side of camp has their own bathrooms. The permanent building in the center is the kitchen. Behind the kitchen are showers. All power is provided by a generator, and water is provided from our well.  

We have emergency communication by cellular phone. The nearest phone is three miles away. Program staff at the 4-H office have our cellular number and can forward emergency messages to us.  The first aid center is located in trailer parked near the craft area. Medical personnel will be present.
