A. Landscape Pest Identification. Samples of 50+ common landscape pests will be on display. You will use your new Landscape Pest Identification Cards to correctly identify pests and their damage, as well as least toxic solutions. Coordinated by Mary Louise Flint, UC Statewide IPM Program and Department of Entomology, Davis and John Kabashima, UCCE Orange County.
B. UC IPM Web site computer activity. You will learn about new and existing features of the UC IPM web site (we promise that there are features you aren’t aware of!). You will use the site to solve common and more difficult questions that come up when you are at the Help Desk. Coordinated by Karey Windbiel-Rojas, UC Statewide IPM Program.
C. Managing the Argentine Ant. Insecticide applications for this ant are a major cause of surface water contamination in many urban areas. Learn about new types of bait stations, products and approaches for managing this difficult-to-control pest. Participants will become familiar with new educational materials, including a video, and learn about ant identification and management. Coordinated by John Klotz, Department of Entomology, UC Riverside and Cheryl Wilen, UCCE San Diego and UC Statewide IPM Program.
