HONOR AWARDS

ESA Founders' Memorial Award - The Founders' Memorial Award was established to honor the memory of scientists who made outstanding contributions to entomology. The award winner must deliver the Founders' Memorial Lecture and receive the award at the annual meeting. Nomination packages must be received by the ESA National Office by October 1 of the year prior to the year the award is to be presented. PROFESSIONAL AWARDS

  1. ESA Distinguished Achievement Award in Extension - The nominee must have demonstrated excellence in an Extension program that exhibits creativity, program impact, achievement, and program delivery. For specifics go to: http://www.entsoc.org/awards/professional/extension.htm
  2. ESA Distinguished Achievement Award in Horticultural Entomology - The nominee must have demonstrated excellent performance through innovations in that increase the quality and value of plants, improve the productivity and profitability of the nursery and landscape industry, and protect and enhance the environment.   3. ESA Distinguished Achievement in Teaching - The awardee must have excelled through innovations in developing new courses, programs, and teaching methods. For specifics go to: http://www.entsoc.org/awards/professional/teaching.htm.
  4. ESA Distinguished Service to the Certification Program Award - The purpose of this award is to encourage, recognize, and reward outstanding contributions to the ESA Certification Program and the professionalism of entomology.   5. ESA President's Prizes for Outstanding Achievement in Primary and Secondary Teaching Using Insects as Educational Material. These awards recognize educators who have gone beyond the traditional teaching methods by using insects as educational tools.   7. ESA Recognition Award in Insect Physiology, Biochemistry and Toxicology - Sponsored by Bayer CropScience, this award was established in 1996 to recognize and encourage innovative research in the areas of insect physiology, biochemistry, and toxicology in the broad sense. The areas of research may include development, molecular biology, genetics, defense mechanisms, and other offshoots of physiology, biochemistry, and toxicology. PROFESSIONAL AWARDS

  1. Award for Excellence in Integrated Pest Management - Sponsored by Syngenta Crop Protection, this award shall be made on the basis of outstanding contributions which have a direct relation to integrated pest management (IPM).   2. Integrated Pest Management Team Award - Dow AgroSciences' Integrated Pest Management Team Award recognizes a small collaborative team effort involving industry and academic scientists that results in a successful IPM approach to control a pest problem in any aspect of agriculture.   3. ESA Recognition Award in Urban Entomology - This award recognizes and encourages outstanding extension, research, and teaching contributions in urban entomology, defined here in its broadest sense as the study of the biology and control of arthropods found in the home or surrounding landscape. This includes structural and wood-destroying pests and pests of ornamental plants, shade trees, and turf. The award, sponsored by S.C.
