Compton Gateway: Symposium on Creekside Community Development

 

On Sept. 15th and 16th, 2009, over 100 people from all levels of government, private enterprise, non-profit organizations, and community groups from Compton came together to discuss, debate, and discover a vision for the Compton Gateway opportunity area that may incorporate stream habitat, recreational resources, economic opportunities, transportation options......

A Presentation by the Cheonggyecheon Stream Restoration Team

 

Thursday, February 4, 2010, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM 

In collaboration with the Korean Cultural Center, FoLAR is bringing members of the team that brought back the Cheonggyecheon Stream in the heart of Seoul, after years of being channelized and hidden under a freeway. This was no small feat. But with acombination of tenacity, community involvement, and the political will of Mayor Lee of Seoul, this accomplishment was completed within budget and on time. Mayor Lee is now President Lee.
