Educational Activities
About 20% of the student population of the University of California come from other countries. They are financed by their families, governments, industries and grants of all kinds. Catalunya provides grants for students to do graduate studies in engineering and biological sciences. Other research programs in Spain provide graduate student support. La Caixa supports 100 graduate students each year who go to US Universities. In recent years 68 students have come to UC with support from la Caixa
Research Projects
Cooperative research between countries enables scientists to take advantage of different environments and populations; to share facilities and to better understand the problems facing various regions of the world. It is a UC philosophy that the results from research must be extended to the people that can will benefit from the new knowledge.
