Indian Valley Farm & Garden grows (View Blog)
A new 5.8-acre organic demonstration farm & garden is growing at College of Marin's Indian Valley campus. The new program will train the next generation of green professionals, fostering countywide agricultural literacy, and helping graduates find and create jobs in horticulture, agriculture and beyond. A $30,000 seed grant from the Marin Board of Supervisors resulted in a detailed site plan guiding the build-out. The projects lead partners are the Conservation Corps North Bay and the College of Marin, with assistance and guidance from UC Cooperative Extension.
Master gardeners partner with MMWD to deliver Bay friendly practices to Marin residents
The Master Gardeners were very knowledgeable. We had just installed an irrigation system and native plants, but hadn't finished. They made good recommendations for additional plants and cautioned us against overwatering. They knew their stuff. - The Curtis family, San Rafael 
A total of 4,839 residents attended workshops and clinic events taught by Master Gardener volunteers, while we handled 1,500 walk-ins or call-ins at our office in Novato. There were 207 Master Gardener volunteers who donated a total of 20,095 hours of education and service to Marin County at farmers' markets, library talks and clinics, weekly Marin IJ columns, and other special events held at key partner organizations like Marin Art & Garden Center and the City of San Rafael's Falkirk Center. Event topics focused on bay-friendly and sustainable horticulture practices.
