Our Sustainable Backyard in Fairfax demonstrates the Master Gardener elements of roof-water reclamation, flood mitigation, Integrated Pest Management, natural building, providing habitat, herb spiral, growing food, native plantings, and three kinds of composting. Our plans for the future include producing information on each of these practices, as well as growing  mushrooms, raising bees, and demonstrating gray water reclamation. The space is the site for our community education events on a broad range of sustainability topics, and can be rented out for classes.
