Redwoods Creekside Restoration
The Creekside Restoration Project at the Redwoods Retirement Home in Mill Valley began in April 1999 and is an ongoing project to create a diverse native plant garden that enhances wildlife habitat and promotes aesthetic pleasure and enjoyment.
The project is sponsored by the Marin Master Gardeners completely staffed by volunteers who remove non-native plants, compost weeds and spread woodchips to improve soil conditions and control weeds. They plant native plants in the fall to take advantage of the winter rains and water them for a couple of years until they become established.
The long-term goal is to create a nature walk with plant identification that provides an educational resource for the community.
