Native Plant Propagation

LucasValleyNativePlantProp
Master Gardeners help the Marin County Open Space District propagate native plants for habitat restoration and planting projects. Work is done at the District’s nursery in Lucas Valley, where we care for existing plants – weeding, thinning and transplanting seedlings to successively larger cells until they are ready to be planted in the ground. We also collect seed at designated open space preserves, process the seed, and sow it in flats. Habitat restoration projects are under way at Santa Venetia Marsh in San Rafael, Bothin Marsh in Mill Valley, and in cooperation with Friends of Corte Madera Creek.
