The Olompali People, a non-profit organization, has partnered with the Marin Master Gardeners to develop and expand the existing Miwok Ethno Botanical Garden, located in the re-created Miwok Village at Olompali State Historic Park in Novato. Designed to educate park visitors on the use of native plants as established by the Native Americans who inhabited this area for 8000 years, this garden is a designated Historical American Landscape Survey Site. Master Gardeners work under the direction of the Olompali People to grow native plant specimens from seed, install the plants, connect to existing irrigation system, remove weeds, and develop interpretative signage.
