Where did tomatoes originate? Are tomatoes a fruit or a vegetable? Are they nutritious? Build a “Tommy Tomato Puppet” and plant a tomato in a peat pellet to take home. Presented by Anne-Marie Walker, Marin Master Gardener.

Butterflies / Give Bees a Chance (talk geared to children)
Flutter on in to the Marin Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden, where you’ll learn about butterflies as pollinators and which plants attract them. You also will make and paint your own butterfly to take home. Presented by Anne-Marie Walker, Marin Master Gardener.

Zany Seuss Soap / in the Dr. Seuss Garden (talk geared to children)
Have fun making your own glycerin soap, adding flowers and leaves from the odd plants in the Marin Master Gardener Dr. Seuss Garden. Learn about our native California soap root plant, valued by Native Americans. Presented by Anne-Marie Walker, Marin Master Gardener.

Marin Master Gardener Pat Decker explains how time spent in a school garden can begin a lifelong lesson about nutrition, habitats and the environment. It's all about engaging kids' natural curiosity and powers of observation through hands-on activities.

Our Wriggly Underground Friends
Silently, busily helping us prepare soil, worms are our friends. Marin Master Gardeners Betty and Larry Mulryan, will show how worms live, what they like to eat from our leftovers and how that produces wonderful soil for growing vegetables and ornamental plants.

The 3 Sisters Garden – Squash, Beans & Corn
Squash, beans and corn are main crops of some Native Americans. Learn how earth mounds, crop clusters and companion plantings create sustainable systems plus a healthy diet for people. Come sample the ‘Sisters Salad’ or grind corn on the metate. Presented by John Goldsmith, Marin Master Gardener.
