Concerns associated with controlling ground squirrels in the presence of surrounding wildlife and domestic pets should be identified before starting any control program. Depending on the types of animals in the controlled area besides
the ground squirrel, a different control regimen may be needed to be applied. For example, in a field that is accessible to dogs and children, secure bait boxes should be used to prevent acess to poisoned grain.

Know the hazards and cautions of any control material you are using. Thoroughly read all information and instructions that accompany the control material or method.
