California ground squirrels are not easily driven out from their burrow or home range area. When they are scared, they run and hide in their burrows, and may remain in there for a while. However, it is very unlikely that they will actually move to a new area all together. There has not been any success with repellents used for ground squirrels. Repellents and frightening are not effective methods for ground squirrel control.
