Name: Pine Squirrel, Douglas' Squirrel, Chiclaree*
Distribution: Southwestern Britich Columbia, western Washington, western and central Oregon, and northern California
General Characteristics: Red/grey or brown/gray upper parts turning into chestnut on middle of back. Underparts gray-orange. Tail like back but grades into blackish third with rusty underneath bordered by black band with white edge. Diurnal and active year-round.
Feeding Habits: young conifer shoots, green vegetation, acorns, nuts, mushrooms, fruits and berries, seeds.
Habitat: Coniferous forests
