Name: Golden-mantled squirrel*
Distribution: SoutheasteN British Columbia and southwest Alberta, south through western United States, east to southeast Wyoming, western Colorado, and north and west New Mexico.
General Characteristics: Grey, brownish or buff back with coppery red coloration on head and shoulders. White belly and black-white-black stripe running down each side.
Feeding Habits: Seeds, nuts, fruits, available insects, green vegetation and fungus.
Habitat: Coniferous or mixed forest
