Distribution: Found throughout the eastern United States
General Characteristics: Fox squirrels are the largest known arboreal squirrels. They are found in three different color phases: grey backs with yellowish bellies, red, or black with white blaze and white tip on tail. Diurnal squirrels, they are found year-round.
Feeding Habit: Fox squirrels generally feed on seeds, nuts, and young buds of trees. They may also prey on bird eggs, nestlings and frogs.
Habitat: Arboreal
