The College of Marin has received a two-year grant of $374,254 from the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office to support its farm-based sustainable food systems program.
The program provides training and education in organic agriculture and local, sustainable food systems at the college's Indian Valley Campus farm in Novato.
"This is a welcome ray of light in an otherwise gloomy and dark economic climate," said college President Frances White. "These funds couldn't have arrived at a better time, and will ensure that our organic garden educational program will survive."
