About Us

The Environmental Horticulture Reseach and Information Center (EHRIC) is a University of California Cooperative Extension resource created to provide a venue for research-based information on important issues facing the horticulture industry in California.  EHRIC acts as an umbrella organization coordinating activities of the Turf, Landscape, Urban Horticulture, and Floriculture and Nursery workgroups within ANR.

The pressures of urban development, foreign competition, pesticide regulation, improved worker safety and accounting for nonpoint source pollution have greatly challenged this industry’s viability.  EHRIC seeks to provide current information on how ANR workgroups are addressing these problems in a manner accessible to UC personnel, growers, and the general public.

EHRIC provides research, news, and information on the California horticulture industry. We're a University of California Cooperative Extension resource, housed in the Department of Plant Sciences at UC Davis. EHRIC is a cooperative project among many people, including: UC Extension specialists, county advisors, and Experiment Station faculty. Our goal is to assist industry, government agencies, and the general public with environmental horticulture problems.

The Center’s director, coordinator, and advisory committee accomplish these goals through the organization of coordinating conferences, development of educational materials addressing ANR program priorities, and our web site.
