Floriculture & Nursery

Ornamental nursery crops are California's second largest agricultural commodity, with a 2004 farm gate value in excess of $2.4 billion. Potted and cut flowers are ranked eighth among California's farm products. Together, the California floriculture and nursery farm gate value was $3.3 billion in 2004, which accounts for 21% of U.S. production. Producers face challenges that range from strong foreign trade competition to pressures from urban development and regulation of worker safety and agricultural chemicals. EHRIC organizes and disseminates information developed by the Floriculture/Nursery Workgroup to help producers address these and other issues related to ornamental crop production.
