Submission and Publication Dates

  • Winter -- October 15th deadline (Publication date: March 15th)
  • Spring-- January 15th deadline (Publication date: June 15th)
  • Summer -- NO issue will be printed in 2003
  • Fall -- July 15th deadline (Publication date: December 15th)

        What to Submit:

        Feature View: This is the main article for the issue which is based upon the writer’s extension program perspective, research or experience. Please include photographs. Feature articles are approximately 1500-1750 words in length.

        Viewpoint: Articles addressing professional development, research, programs, curricula, etc. These articles reflect various types of extension programs. Be creative! Please include photographs. Viewpoint articles are approximately 300-500 words in length.

        Notes: Articles of general interest to NAE4-HA members. Please include photographs. Notes from the Field are approximately 300-500 words in length.

        Photographs: Photographs are needed for each edition of News and Views. They may accompany an article or stand alone to tell a 4-H story. Formatting Articles:

          • 1 Font: Times – Roman
          • Single spaced typing: double spaced between paragraphs.
          • Do not indent paragraphs.
          • No columns
          • Limit formatting to only bullets
          • One space after punctuation
          • Smart or curly double quotes
          • Use italics for names of books, periodicals, etc.
          • MS Word is preferred. If you do not have Word, please use Word Perfect or Notepad.
          • Look at previous issues when choosing how to write your article.

        Author Contact Information:

        Please include the following information as we will use the appropriate data with your article. We then can use the information to contact you quickly with questions or editorial changes.

          • Name, Title, Address, City, State, Zip code, Phone/Fax and E-mail

        Formatting Photographs:

        Formatting Specifics

          • Our preference at this time, is still in hardcopy form.  It gives the publisher the best clarity form for print.
          • If you have digital photographs, here is the form we will accept: .eps, .tif (high resolution), .jpg (high resolution – please note this is our least preferred and we may not be able to utilize them).
          • Author information is the same for photographs as it is for articles. Please see above.
