Biological Control Workgroup
Biological control projects are being conducted by UC, CDFA, & USDA personnel. While each agency faces similar issues, there is often little coordination or extension of activities. This problem will be addressed under two broad objectives: (1) assess issues that impact regulation and practice, and (2) improve communication, cooperation and extension. To accomplish these objectives, issues pertinent to California biological control will be addressed by Subcommittees. Preliminary discussions have identified several Subcommittee issues, including: (a) pre-release evaluation of natural enemies, (b) post- release assessment, (c) funding development for I&Q operations and foreign exploration, (d) improved interagency communication, (e) improved extension tools.
