National Extension Leadership Development Program

style="FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'">NELD is a two-year leadership experience.
Directors who have sent interns or who have hired previous interns from other
states are enthusiastic about this program. Mike Tate, Dean and Director in
Washington State, and a former NELD intern, says that this is the best
leadership experience you can have. Your organization will be richer for having
personnel who have taken the NELD journey.

Tennessee State University
(current NELD program team), as an 1890 institution, offers a perspective on
leadership not previously possible. Current NELD class will have four seminars -
at an 1890 and a 1994 college as well as at a 1862. They hope to hold one
seminar in conjunction with the ACOP/ESCOP leadership program. The fourth
seminar an international learning experience will be optional to interns and
will be open to others who wish to join the group.

Registration for all
four seminars is $2,500. Additional commitment from the sponsoring state
includes the cost of travel and subsistence expenses for the intern and some
cost for reading and resource materials.
