NOTE: Due to reduced staffing, the poster service (printing and checking phone/email correspondence) is only available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. That's one reason we need 5 working days to get your job done.
Please contact Mike Poe for special arrangements.
See changes to our rates (lower) and our ink (UV--will not fade) in the Rates and Materials sections below.

The Details: Naming files, sending files, the cost to you, production time and materials used.
About file names.... You wouldn't believe how many files have been sent to us named poster.ppt . When you SAVE, or SAVE AS, name your file using our suggested protocol. Start with an abbreviation of your unit, i.e. VM for Veterinary Medicine, followed by your name or users initials, followed by any group of numbers or letters. For county, or experiment station based personnel, begin your file names with the 2 digit county or experiment station numeric office code i.e., 24 (Merced County) followed by the same protocols as mentioned above. If your not sure what your office code is: Office Codes is a pdf file with the list.Example: 24lh02uniquename
- 24: the county
- lh: the user’s initials
- 02: the year
- uniquename: a name unique from other files you have sent to us this year.
Submit files: We can print posters from files created in MicroSoft PowerPoint or Adobe Acrobat PDF files. Here's how you can submit your computer-generated presentation online for poster prints:File naming becomes a key issue as files arrive on our servers and computers. By following the stated protocols, it reduces the chances from file overwrites as well as allowing easier association of files to a client. You may notice this is the same naming protocol as used by our slide imaging service.
Rates: Beginning July 1, 2006, you will be recharged for the poster printing service at the rate of $3/square foot of paper used. For example, one 3'x4' poster will cost $36. Additional copies are at the same rate.

Production time: Posters are printed and shipped in 3 to 5 working days. We don't do one day turn-around. Don't ask. Our advice is to plan ahead and submit your request early enough to meet your time for first use. If you have planned to pick up the poster in person, our front office will have it ready for you. The office is open 8am-Noon and 1pm to 5pm M-F and is located in at 1850 Research Park Drive, Suite 200, in Davis.
Materials: Starting Spring 2006, we've changed to UV ink. With our standard satin finish photographic paper that provides sharper graphics and excellent photo reproduction the printed poster will not fade---according to the manufacturer---for 100 years! We print the posters on 100 foot rolls or paper that is sturdy but not indestructable. We don't have lamination equipment, but that service is available to you commercially for around $25 for a 3' x 4' poster.Shipping: Your poster is rolled and placed into a heavy duty mailing tube. We pay for standard shipping and handling via UPS. If you would like priority service, please provide your Fed Ex account number.
