Before Migration

What are IMAD and ADSP?
Does everyone have to add the IMAD and ADSP permits, or just me (the Office Liaison)?

Yes, everyone needs to add these permits. More information on what IMAD and ADSP permits are and how to add them.

What passwords are you referring to on the Liaison Checklist? Why do you need them?
We will need to restart and log in to each computer several times during the migration process. Your office staff members can temporarily change their passwords to a generic password for the time we are there, and then change it back when we have finished with the computer. That way we will never know their real password. If staff will be in the office during our visit, they can log in to their computers for us.

Will this be done to all computers and laptops?
Yes, all computers need to be done. As long as the computer connects to our network, we want to join them to the Domain.

Do all computers need to be here on deployment day?
Yes. All desktop and laptop computers need to be available if possible. We will be in your office for at least 2 days, and we will try to work around the schedules of your staff members.

How long does it take to do the migration on one computer?
It depends on how fast the computer is and how much data needs to be migrated. In general, the process averages about 2 hours per computer.

Do I have to choose a computer name?
No. For computers that are not shared, we will use user's UC Davis Login ID as the computer name. For shared computers that are shared (like 4H and Master Gardener computers), we will name them by their function. However, if you want to name some or all of your computers in a different scheme, you will need to let us know when you send back the *file25*. For more information and suggestions on computer names, refer to Suggestions on Computer Names.
