This is to meet the UC Davis Security Standards, which require that devices must be configured to "lock" and require a user to re-authenticate if left unattended for more than 20 minutes.

Automatic Update is configured to install updates at 3 AM. Do I need to leave my computer on all the time?
No. If your computer is powered off or in a sleep mode at 3 AM, Automatic Update will start after 1 minute the next time you log in.
